Theresa Cianciolo, DVM

Prior to graduating from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995, Dr. C came to Kensington Bird and Animal Hospital as its first student intern. From that moment, she understood the uniqueness of the hospital and the quality of medicine that was offered to such a large and diverse set of animal species from birds to small mammals to reptiles to dogs and cats and everything in between. Desiring to work in such a practice, she joined KBAH as an associate veterinarian in 2000. When the opportunity to take ownership arose in 2005, she jumped in with both feet, pledging to maintain the integrity and reputation built on Dr. Giddings' 20+ years of business. She is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. C's passions outside of work include caring for her beautiful 2 year old son as well as her multitude of animals, affectionately referred to as "The Zoo," which includes parrots, dogs, cats, chickens, and a lizard.

Dr. Robert Giddings

Robert F. Giddings, DVM, Diplomate ABVP - Avian Practice

Dr. Giddings has had a life-long interest in birds. After graduating from the Cornell University Veterinary School in 1969, he encouraged people to bring him both wild and pet birds for treatment. Birds rapidly became so popular as pets that in 1980 the Association of Avian Veterinarians was formed; Dr. Giddings became a member in 1981.

In 1988, wanting to devote most of his professional time to birds, he founded Kensington Bird and Animal Hospital. Birds continue to account for more than half the patients seen there. In 1994 he became certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, specializing in Avian Practice. He recertified in 2004. He continues to be actively engaged in veterinary practice.

While in veterinary school, she spent her summers at Kensington Bird and Animal Hospital and officially joined the team in the fall of 2005. She is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association.
